I first joined Sue's Blue Crew in 2013, 11 years ago. At the time I had lost a few loved ones to cancer, but it hadn't hit too close to home.
Nearly half of Canadians are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. With a statistic like this it is not surprising I can no longer say cancer hasn't hit close to home. Cancer has hit many loved ones including my mother in 2017 and myself in 2022. Throughout all the years, with your help, I have managed to continue to support the Relay for Life and this team which Mary-Jane has been part of for 23 years and has been Team Captain for all of the years I have participated.
I’m determined to make a difference by participating in the Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life. This is a nationwide event that brings people together to celebrate survivors, honour those we’ve lost and show that no one has to face cancer alone. By making a donation, you improve the lives of all those affected by cancer through world-class research, transformative advocacy and compassionate support.
Full disclosure, I won't be physically relaying at this event in Burlington on Jun 8. I will be relaying on the Amalfi Coast in Italy because the one thing I have learned is to not wait for another day to do the things you really want to do. In 2025 I will try to plan my schedule to be local so that I can relay in person with the team.
I hope you’ll show your support, and help me reach my fundraising goal.
Thank you!
