As I prepare to participate in my 6th Canadian Cancer Society's Relay for Life, I carry with me a deep sense of purpose and a heart filled with memories of my late husband, James Ward. James was not only my beloved husband but also a devoted father to our two young children. His presence is deeply missed in our lives, but his love continues to guide us every day.
James's battle with cancer was a testament to his strength and courage, but it was also a journey that profoundly impacted our family. Throughout his illness, we experienced firsthand the invaluable support provided by organizations like the Canadian Cancer Society, not only to patients but also to their families.
That's why I'm participating in Relay for Life – to send a powerful message of solidarity to those affected by cancer, especially families like ours who have endured the pain of loss. Together, we can make a difference, not only through our fundraising efforts but also by supporting groundbreaking research that paves the way for longer and fuller lives.
I've come to understand that one doesn't simply "move on" from the loss of a loved one to cancer. Instead, we make a conscious decision to continue moving forward, one step at a time, one day at a time. It's a journey of healing, of remembrance, and of honoring the lives that cancer has touched.
In honor of James and all those we've lost to this relentless disease, I kindly ask for your support in reaching my personal fundraising goal of $3,500. Every donation brings us closer to a future where cancer no longer steals our loved ones away too soon.
Thank you for standing with me in this important cause. Together, let's change the future of cancer.
