My story began in November 2021 after having a hysterectomy. A biopsy confirmed Endometrial Cancer which had begun to spread to the cervix. I received 25 radiation treatments and 3 internal radiation treatments.
In April of 2022, I went for a scan of my adrenal gland. Through that scan, they noticed a spot on my left lung. In June 2022, I was told that I had Lung Cancer. But I have never smoked, I said. They said it was a genetic mutation. In August, half of my lung was removed. I then had four chemotherapy treatments. In January 2023, I started three years of immunotherapy pills. So far,my scans have been clear.
I also do this in honour of Pat Drysdale, Cathy Buchanan and Sam Estabrooks and in memory of Joan O'Neal, Dave Estabrooks and, most recently, Shelley Ward. In celebration of my husband, Bruce Megeney, who fought the battle of eye cancer and won.
