This is my first Relay for Life.....
I have always been a supporter of Relay for Life since my Father and Brother were diagnosed decades ago but this year is different. My family is no stranger to cancer and the perils of this disease. This is why we fight.
In June of 2023 I was diagnosed with Lung cancer. Damn it. As the doctor spilled details of the days to come, my husband and I decided we would do all and any of the treatment options offered to us to rid the disease from my body. The doctor said there was a team of researchers in Toronto that would take my case. We needed a plan and that team.
Within the next few months I would under go two surgeries, radiation, chemo and recently immunotherapy. We also found out in that time that I also had another rare form of cancer that saw me qualify for a trial study at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. My care there is second to none. I currently attend monthly for immunotherapy infusions as I recover from my last surgery.
I will always need treatment. My cancer is treatable but not curable.....Yet!
I believe that one day there will be a cure for all cancers.
Until that day, we trust in the advances made with the dollars raised through Relay for Life.
This is my fist Relay for Life....where I will walk as a participant of Hope!
Thank you for you support
