Like many people cancer has touched my life. In 2007 my mom was diagnosed with Lymphoma and right from that moment she vowed to fight it. Today, she is cancer free but the fear is always in the back of our minds that it could come back.
Then in April 2022, my friend, my sister, Claire was diagnosed with Melanoma that included Brain Tumours. Claire was determined to fight for her life to be around to watch her beautiful daughter graduate from University, get married and have chilldren. Unfortunately, Claire lost her battle on October 6, 2022. She left a hole in our hearts and the world was a little less bright.
I am participating to celebrate the people in my life who won their battle including both my grandmothers, to celebrate the memories of those who lost their battle including my Aunt Rosalie and finally to bring hope to those who continue to battle including my cousin Carla. We need to find a cure to eradicate this disease so that no one else will suffer and have their light go out too soon.
