My Aunt Jackie was the heart of our family. She was the glue, the common thread that kept us all connected. Family was everything to her. Her siblings, neices and nephews, children, grandchildren, friends and colleagues all held special places in her heart.
She was an amazing woman with a pure loving soul. She had an impact on all that she interacted with.
As we all stood by her through her fight against cancer we walked many a relay along side her and for her when she was no longer able to. Shortly before she passed, she met with each and every family memeber to say her goodbye. We all had unique and special relationships with her.
In those last moments with her I promised her that I would carry her with me always and never let her spirit fade. I would never forget the couragous battle she fought until the end and I would continue to let it inspire me.
I pledged to always walk the relay in her honour, even if it was by myself or in non- tradiational ways.
This year is one of those times, we are faced with a unique and challenging landscape right now.
I will not let that stop me.
I will be participating in the Relay from home event on the evening of June 13th, 2020.
I am also going to raise the stakes.
I am pledging to walk 250 km in June as a dedication to my Aunt.
I ask that you consider donating to this cause, as we all have been touched in some way by Cancer.
Thank you so much, I love and appreciate you all.
