Why I Relay
Thursdays were special at the office. Why? Barb, our Canadian Cancer Society volunteer who gave her time and talents for the day. She volunteered for CCS other ways and times but that was her regular day at the front desk.
Thursday March 12 was the last day I saw Barb at the office and not just because of COVID-19. As a breast cancer survivor, she would have understood the additional stress this virus places on people living with cancer. She would have appreciated how the CCS addressed the need for more support and information and how our offices may have closed but our services to meet this need ramped up.
But Barb didn’t get to share in these achievements. She didn’t get to see how we reimagined our signature event for which she was a committee member and top fundraiser. Her life was cut short by brain cancer on April 12.
This June I am participating in the Relay At Home in honour of Barb.
Will you help me honour Barb and continue the important work that she helped by giving a donation to fund life-saving research and support services?
