Hey it's Martti,
I never planned on being a runner — outside of a one-month stint on the Anna McCrea cross-country team in the eighth grade circa 1989, I never ran, ever. Last April, a friend challenged me to join him for a 15km trail race through the Algoma Highlands.
I cautiously accepted and on my first ‘training run’ ran 780 meters before my will to continue collapsed — but I felt alive, alive and through running have been gifted a deeper appreciation for the life I’ve been lucky enough to live.
Beginning 10 pm June 12th through to the 13th, I’ll be running for a minimum of 50km — and a maximum of who knows what — to raise money for cancer research and pass on that gift in my own small way.
If you can’t make the run, donate and let me run for you.
I’ll be running in a shirt written with the names of all supporters and the names of the people in their lives they want me to run for.
Help me make this run count, and I’ll run until I can’t.
