An estimated 27,700 women and 260 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada. I am one of them.

In June 2022, at the young age of 32, I was diagnosed with invasive ductual carcinoma that had metastasized to my lymph nodes. 

I underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy, and unfortunately cancer remained in my lymph nodes. I then underwent an axillary node clearance to ensure any remaining cancer was removed. In March of this year, I completed 20 rounds of radiation therapy, and began Verzenio in April - in conjuction with my endocrine therapy. I am doing everything I can to keep cancer away, but the reality is it can come back, and we need more.

I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 1, 2023.

With your help, I can reach my fundraising goal, and will be able to direct funding where I believe it is going to be most valuable.

More and more young women are being diagnosed with cancer every year. Cancer in young women can be particularly aggressive and we are not eligible for screening. My mission is two fold, to promote earlier screening (the best hope is early diagnoisis and that should not be age dependent), and to raise more money for metastatic breast cancer research.
