My Run. Anywhere. Any way.: Cheryl Trevison

I, like a lot of women I know, put off my annual mammogram in 2021 due to COVID. Luckily for me the woman at the BC Cancer Agency that I spoke to when I cancelled my appointment in February suggested I go on a cancellation list so I wouldn't have to wait til September for another appointment. Thank goodness she did because I got a call in April and booked my mammogram for the next day. Long story short and another mammogram along with two biopsies later I received a diagnosis of Breast Cancer. I have had surgery and I completed radiation and chemotherapy treatment August 12 2022. I feel very lucky to have had a diligent and insistent BC Cancer Agency worker on my side. She probably saved my life. I am very thankful to my Mom, Sisters, Husband, Son, InLaws and Friends as well as the Doctors, Nurses and Technicians in Nelson and Kelowna for being there for me throughout my journey. I am truly blessed. When I first started participating in Run for the Cure I had no names to put on my shirt. Now the names of just the people I know with Breast Cancer would cover a shirt and then some. Please join me if you are able. This October 2 I will be walking in Gratitude, in Remembrance and in Hope.

An estimated 27,700 women and 260 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada.

To show my support for all Canadians impacted by breast cancer, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 2, 2022.

With your help, I can reach my fundraising goal and make a life-changing difference for so many people. Every dollar I raise will fund groundbreaking breast cancer research and support programs and services for those impacted by this disease.
