An estimated 27,700 women and 260 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada. This includes my sister, Sydney. Syd was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer in February 2023 at the age of 26. By June, despite receiving intensive chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments, her cancer had metastasized rapidly. Now at stage 4, our family's top priority is keeping her comfortable as she receives palliative treatment and care.

To show my support for Syd and all Canadians impacted by breast cancer, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 1, 2023.

UPDATE - September 21, 2023

My beautiful sister, Sydney, took her last breath on September 14, 2023 surrounded by the love of her family. Syd had the kindest heart, the sweetest soul, and a laugh that could light up any room. She was one of those people that always put a smile on your face when you saw her. A social butterfly, Syd loved people and would strike up a conversation with everyone she met. Syd taught me kindness, compassion, how to be stubborn, and how to live life to its fullest. I will forever cherish the relationship we had and the memories we made. I hope wherever you are, there's unlimited candy, ice cold coffees, and butterflies.

My forever sis and guardian angel, I love you endlessly.
