An estimated 27,700 women and 260 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada.

Breast Cancer doesn’t just impact the person who has been diagnosed, it impacts everyone who cares and loves them. 

Here is a bit of my story:

In the fall of 2016 my mom, Chiara’s journey started. She was diagnosed the stage 3A invasive ductal cell carcinoma, Breast Cancer. From the day of diagnosis to her passing in May of 2021, she was a fighter. There were many road trips for treatment and we couldn’t have done without the support of our family and friends. My Mom never gave up. She is my hero, she was a fighter and someone I will always look up to. 

This year, a friend was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She reminds me a lot of my mom, a fighter, a bright smile and one of the kindest people I know.

To capture the many women in our lives we have decided to go with the team name of Bellissima. Bellissima means beautiful in Italian.

To show my support for all Canadians impacted by breast cancer, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 1, 2023.

P.S. Did you know? Fundraising $300 can fund help provide healthy home-cooked meals for guests at a Canadian Cancer Society lodge during their stay. Lodge guests receive wholesome foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, and meals customized to their dietary needs – including those arising from cancer treatment, like liquid and soft food diets.
