Every day, 75 Canadians will hear the words “you have breast cancer.” While these Canadians are living longer, healthier lives after a breast cancer diagnosis, there is still so much work to be done.
Chiara was compassionate, strong willed, resilient, caring, loving and always knew how to make us laugh.
My name is Karmela and this year my family, friends and I our Honoring my Mom by raising money for Breast Cancer and participating in the CIBC Run for the Cure. For those of you who don’t know, here is a snippet of Mom’s Breast Cancer journey.
In September 2016 Chiara was diagnosed with Stage 3A triple positive Breast Cancer and treatments started soon after. Shortly after her diagnosis, Chiara became a member of the Canadian Cancer Society. Chiara was positive, determined and a fighter. Between family time and treatments, Kelowna became her second home. Chiara underwent numerous chemo treatments in both Cranbrook and Kelowna, as well as radiation and a mastectomy. In 2020 Chiara started the Tulip Trial. She was able to be a part of a cancer trial that will help to save the lives of many people. Chiara never gave up, right till the very end! Through all the hard times, Chiara was always positive. She always looked for the good.
Chiara was a fighter and the importance of her family gave her the determination to make sure she was here for their 32nd wedding anniversary, and all of their Birthdays. May 30th will now be a day to Celebrate both Chiara’s life and Glen’s Birthday.
We all remember Chiara for her infectious laugh and countless memories.
Please join us this year to raise money for the future of Breast Cancer.
