Our Shumka family lost long time member Shirley Smits (Doskoch) to breast cancer and the reality broke our hearts. To help us cope with her loss and to honour her, “Shumka Alumni Girls - S.A.G." was formed to participate in the Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure. Years later our team is strong  and engaged because “TOGETHER WE CAN CHANGE THE FUTURE OF BREAST CANCER!”
Research and early detection are key factors that can result in a positive outcome of early-stage breast cancer. Our Shumka Family continues to support members, friends and family who unfortunately have received a breast cancer diagnosis. 1 in 8 Canadian women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime and this fact is a reality in our Shumka Family. Breast cancer does not discriminate and affects all, regardless of age, race, gender, and socio-economic class.
Shumka Alumni Girls - S.A.G. will be walking/running on October 1, 2023. Please donate and support our fundraising efforts or sign up and join our team. If you opt in to Run Rewards and raise a minimum of $150 you will qualify for a team t-shirt!
