In May 2017, just 16 months after Deb's retirement she was hit with what is almost as bad of news you can hear "it's cancer"!   If fortunate can ever come after a cancer conversation, it happened here. It was just weeks from biopsy, to first oncologist appt, to her first of three major surgeries, Deb was on a path to her recovery (it was not easy), and it not only changed her life dramatically, it changed mine, as a caregiver, more than I could have expected. 

Those changes brought new meaning to Deb's life and forever gave her a greater appreciation for what may have been ignored in the past.

Deb was lucky to get tested, heard, and cared for by the most amazing medical professionals in the business.  Today those timelines are drawn out much to far, and we need to help keep research, doctors and nurses in the roles they are trained and ready for, and the CIBC Run for the Cure and the Canadian Cancer Society are key in ensuring that happens.

i am grateful beyond words that Deb is here with me (us all) today and that we just celebrated our 25th Anniversary xo 

But...

Every day, 70 Canadians will hear the words “you have breast cancer.” While these Canadians are living longer, healthier lives after a breast cancer diagnosis, but there is still so much work to be done. 
By participating in this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure,  I’m joining a collective that is a force-for-life in the face of breast cancer. I’m running in honour of the incredible people in my life, and I need your help!
