In May 2022, my life took an unexpected turn when I discovered a lump during a routine self-examination. Little did I know that this discovery would set me on a challenging yet transformative journey. In June 2022, I received the diagnosis: Triple Negative Breast Cancer.

Facing the reality of my diagnosis was undoubtedly one of the most difficult moments of my life. But as the saying goes, tough times don't last, tough people do. With unwavering love and support from my family and friends, I embarked on a journey that would test my strength, resilience, and faith.

In July 2022, I began chemotherapy, a formidable battle against the cancer that had invaded my body. It was a period of ups and downs, but I clung to the hope that the treatment would lead me to a brighter future.

In December, I underwent a double mastectomy, a significant step on my path to recovery. The surgery marked the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. With determination and the support of those who cared for me, I emerged on the other side, returning to my renewed life in February.

My journey was not just about survival; it was about finding a renewed sense of purpose. I decided to participate in the Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 1, 2023. I'm doing this walk not only for myself but also for all those who are currently facing or will face a similar journey in the future.

Breast cancer affects countless lives across Canada, with an estimated 27,700 women and 260 men diagnosed every year. The statistics are daunting, but together, we can make a difference.
