Our Story
My first experience with breast cancer was when my mom was diagnosed late in life with stage 4 breast cancer. Unfortunately she passed from not seeking regular preventative treatment.

I’ve been consistently checked, gone through regular testing over the years, and have had a few biopsies along the way. In January of 2022, right before my 57th birthday, one of these biopsies came back positive for early stage breast cancer - this is where my own journey began.

With the guidance of my team of healthcare providers, I chose to have a double mastectomy, followed by radiation. While I am still in the maintenance phase, I am grateful for the place I am in today which is due to the amazing community of support.

As we all know, breast cancer is something that has touched many people. Over the last few years, before and after my diagnosis, there have been several people, both friends and family, that have been diagnosed with breast cancer at different stages.

Through my own experience, my eyes have opened to the cost to treat a single patient, from treatment to the village of amazing healthcare professionals. This is why fundraising is so crucial in order to keep these resources readily available and to ultimately find a cure. I have endless gratitude for the care I have received and the support I have felt as I went through my journey; this is why I am participating in the Run for the Cure to continue raising money and spreading awareness.
