My story is similar to many I am sure.  I felt a lump but being a busy mom of three, I waited to tell my doctor until I could make the time.  Next came imaging and a biopsy and finally on July 28th, 2022 I received the news. The breast lump I had felt was stage 3 invasive mammary carcinoma and my families fight began.  The next 6 months I was treated with chemo to shrink the tumor and finally surgery in January. 
I am so grateful for the love of family and friends that supported me along the way.  They made the journey easier to bear and gave me all the reasons I needed to keep going. I am also thankful for my doctors and nurses and the world class treatments available to breast cancer patients. Your donations will help fund treatments and hopefully a cure so busy moms can stay busy!

My active treatment is over but I do realize that recurrence is a real possibility and I will need to remain taking treatments over the next 5 years to prevent it.  

This year I will walk for my family as well as Ruth Keon and Chelsea Broos who are still fighting and my friend Kristen who is fighting recurrence.  We are all better together!

An estimated 27,700 women and 260 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada.  

To show my support for all Canadians impacted by breast cancer, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 2, 2022.
