I was diagnosed with Stage 1A ductal carcinoma in 2018 at the age of 32. It was a complete shock as I was the first person in my family to receive a cancer diagnosis. I underwent a year of treatment including chemotherapy and multiple surgeries while raising two young children. This cause is near and dear to my heart not only from my personal experience but to my family and friends who have also been diagnosed after my journey. Breast Cancer treatment continues for many years post diagnosis (I have one more year to go) and the risk of reoccurrence is a fear that lasts a lifetime.
