I am participating in this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure in remembrance of my dear friend, Michelle Hogaboam who sadly lost her battle with breast cancer earlier this year.

Michelle’s friends & family started running this when our soul sister and "littlest unicorn", was diagnosed in her early thirties. She had found a lump and made an appointment to have it checked out - not thinking much of it. Flash forward 11 years later, fighting and beating the cancer twice, only to be given a third diagnosis of stage 4 metastatic breast cancer in 2022. She lost her battle April 1 of this year. We are doing the Run for the Cure again, this time, not by her side, rather in very loving memory with her all around us in spirit, love and light. Michelle wasn't alone in this battle. It is the continual research that keeps patients with new procedures, medications to trial and ideally, keep up the quality of life while also extending life itself. Michelle was approved for a trial medication that, most likely, extended her life significantly. We got more time with her, she was able to be a beacon to others in their own struggles and remained a steadfast friend, sister and partner. The additional time was beyond precious to all of us who love her. Xo
