I was 31 when I was told I had cancer. I had no explanation why this happened to me. No family history and was told I won the cancer lottery. Two years to the week before my diagnosis, my coworker and friend Mich was battling her own cancer diagnosis. She was done and was diagnosed. I remember the day I called her and all she wanted to do was help, that's who Mich was, always helping everyone!

I went through surgery, chemo, and radiation. And was cancer-free. As soon as I was back to work, Mich had her second diagnosis and then years later, a third. Mich passed away on April 1, 2024, just days before her birthday. I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure for Mich.
