To my friends and family,

So . . . year 15!  I can’t believe it has been this long.  The CIBC Run for the Cure, in support of breast cancer research, has been a yearly activity for me since losing my best friend Shirley (Doskoch) Smits in March 2009. Shumka Alumni Girls S.A.G team was formed that year to honour her and has continued ever since to support other Shumka family and friends who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Your donation of any amount will help the Canadian Cancer Society with research funding and support for people with breast cancer (and their families).

I’m not just running in memory of Shirley and my friend Lilli, but with gratitude for other incredible women in my life who have successfully battled and beaten this disease. Your donation will make a difference and help create a future without breast cancer.

And, honestly, having lost other friends to cancer and other diseases needing research funding at all levels, I am asking that you consider my request; your support means very much to me.  FYI, I’ll be walking, not running, but I will be there!  The link to my fundraising page follows or search for my name on the CIBC Run for the Cure Edmonton site.
