In March of 2021 my mom had asked to sit down with Jordan and I to discuss some things. Now anyone that knows my mom knows that she always has an answer and strides with confidence. I knew instantly that something was wrong. 

She was diagnosed with stage 1 aggressive, invasive ductal carcinoma.

I was absolutely gutted. I sat there in silence as I didn’t even know how to process what I was just told. My mom, my rock who has been there for everything in my life was entering into something no one wishes to go through. 

If she had a word that was thought of daily it was “fight” and did she fight. 

With the support of her family and friends her journey began. A partial mastectomy in April, time to heal, only to start radiation treatments June of 2021. 

Everyday she got up and fought. 

The courage and strength that I witnessed in this time is something I will never forget. 

Today my mom is living cancer free. 

October 6, 2024 we will be walking to help raise awareness for breast cancer. Breast cancer is still the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Canadian women, with 1 in 8 expected to be diagnosed in their lifetime. With our donations it helps for better treatment options for Canadians.
