I was dignosed with breast cancer in October 2022.  Even though I have 2 maternal aunts who had breast cancer, I was not considered high risk.  I had mastectomy with axillary node dissection, chemotherapy and radiation.  I am still recovering from the effects of the treatments and the knowledge that my life is forever changed. The shadow of recurrent breast cancer hangs over my head and we desperately need more research into effective treatments, prevention of treatment related side effects and prevention of breast cancer.  As well, there are people living with metastatic breast cancer such as my sister-in-law and we need ongoing research so that she can continue to lead a productive life with this disease.  Thank you for supporting my fundraising efforts.

An estimated 27,700 women and 260 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada.

I am one of them.  I am so grateful for all the research that has been done so far to improve treatment for people with breast cancer.  But we need more - many women die from breast cancer every year leaving families without mothers, aunts, grandmothers, sisters.  Join me in helping fundraise for more research so that these lives don't have to be cut short.
