In 2021, while pregnant with my second daughter, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer at the age of 35. What followed was a mastectomy while pregnant, early delivery of my baby, a NICU stay, then chemo therapy and hormone treatment. With incredible support from family and friends, I am grateful to have made it though those difficult times and am living a full and healthy life, loving every minute with my daughters, Brenna and Abigail, and my incredibly supportive husband, Steven.

On the journey of staying fit and healthy, I was fortunate to come across Breast Friends Dragon Boat Racing Team in Edmonton, AB. Here I have found my sisters! We are all survivors, we support and strengthen each other and have a lot of fun on the water in the process.

On October 6, 2024 our team will take on the CIBC Run for the cure. This incredible event helps to raise funds that better the treatment options and increase survival outcomes, giving survivors hope and strength. Thank you CIBC for your commitment to curing breast cancer and supporting those living with it.

 REMINDER: If you feel something is wrong with your body, don't ignore it. You know yourself better than anyone! Do those individual breast exams monthly and seek advice from your doctor if you are at all concerned! As a young person, no one expected I had breast cancer, but it happens. Don't ignore that sense if you feel something isn't right!

Fundraising $300 can fund healthy home-cooked meals for guests at a Canadian Cancer Society lodge during their stay. Lodge guests receive wholesome foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, and meals customized to their dietary needs including those arising from cancer treatment, like liquid and soft food diets.
