An estimated 27,700 women and 260 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada.  

In February 2020, my own mom received this diagnosis. Things happened quickly, within 3 weeks, she was scheduled for a mastectomy and discussions for chemotherapy and radiation treatment were starting to be scheduled. Shortly after that, everything shut down due to Covid. She travelled hours every week to go for chemotherapy and radiation treatments with virtual support from family and friends as Covid made it to risky to visit in person. So this is why I Run. In hopes that research and earlier detection can reduce the number of people who receive this diagnosis and have to go through this process.

To show my support for all Canadians impacted by breast cancer, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 2, 2022.
