On Feb 20, 2020 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and a plan of action was put into place.  On  March 3, 2020 I had a right side mastectomy and then patiently waited for everything to be healed to start my chemotherapy.  On April 17th I had my 1st chemo treatment.  Because of covid I had them every 3 weeks instead of every 2nd week..after my 2nd treatment my hair was falling out in clumps so I shaved my head.. next I had to go and have a picc line inserted to make it easier on my veins.  After a couple days of pain on the site of the picc line I went for an ultrasound to find out I had a blood clot which can be a side effect of the line.  The blood clot resulted in 6 months of giving myself blood thinner needles every day in my stomach.   After 3 months of chemo they changed my cocktail which then meant a trip once a week for 12 weeks to Saskatoon.  Remember this is at the height of the covid epidemic.  When I would go for my treatments I always had to go alone, Stan waited the entire time out in the car.  Not a lot was open so we went straight to the cancer clinic and straight home...our lunch was whatever I had packed to be eaten along the way on the way home. What a great day to be done chemo on the 10th of Sept.  On October 8th, 2020 I had to go to Saskatoon for my CT tattoo scan to begin my radiation.  On Oct 20th I started my radiation which would be 25 treatments that would go for 5 weeks from Monday to Friday.  Stan and I stayed at the Cancer patient lodge while i had my radiation.  On November 23rd I got to ring the bell....yay  treatment was done.   Next step was to remove my ovaries to get rid of the production of estrogen (which I tested receptor positive for) and start my hormone therapy which I will be on for 10 years.  I also have to have 6 infusions of Zometa to help keep my bones in good condition.   To date, I have 1 left for Sept.  I am so thankful for FB messenger as that was my company through all my treatments.  I am also so thankful for those that helped me emotionally, spiritually and physically through that time of my life.  When I think back to that journey I was on it was a constant time of blood work, ECG scans, ultrasounds, picc line maintenance, needles, chemo, radiation, phone calls and consultations, MRI's, surgerys and many trips to Saskatoon.  Believe me when I say the Cancer journey is real....
