This fight is all what you expect it to be : it's hard. It's draining. It's more than frustrating. But there are good days, very good days even. More than you would know! Those who know me well won't be surprised to learn that I've remained positive every single day since the moment of my diagnosis. Not only for myself, but also for my family, my friends, and especially my son, who is my brightest ray of sunshine. I couldn't have done this without my incredible support system, from whom I drew my strength everyday - and I strangely found myself reassured every step of the way, thanks to them. Not only have I been diagnosed early enough to be able to fight this beast, but I was fortunate enough to have an amazing treatment team around me. I had a concrete and agressive treatment plan. I had answers. More importantly, I had a loving partner, an amazing mother, incredible friends and the happiest, kindest, sweetest of little boys to support me through this journey. And all I kept repeating to myself was : I can't change this - all I can do right now is hope for the best and give it my all.

Today, I am half way through treatment. I have completed 6 months of IV chemotherapy, and had surgery to remove the remaining tumour. I now have to take pills for an extra 6 months to decrease the risk of reoccurrence - and yes it seems a lot, and yes it wasn't easy, but I've been in fight mode since day 1 and can say with certainty that I came out of this experience stronger. And please know that despite "cancer" being a terrifying word, there IS hope. Always.
