Typically I participate in the CIBC Run (walk in my case!) for the Cure for two basic reasons: #1) I fear someone I love will be diagnosed with breast cancer; and/or #2) I will personally be diagnosed with breast cancer.  Fear and cancer are absolutely intertwined for me and millions of other people. However, what I have discovered on my 11-year fundraising journey is that the fear of breast cancer diagnosis for anyone, can be replaced with gratitude and hope. 

Year after year friends and family have supported my goals and ultimately become heroes for breast cancer treatment and research through their donations. That helps me and many others know that even with a diagnosis of breast cancer, people will not only survive, but also thrive. 

Over the past 11-years you have helped me raise over $20,000!!  To say I am humbled would be an understatement, and my gratitude can’t be properly expressed with words.  But here I am again, with hand and heart out, asking for your support and donation this year too.  My goal will once again be to raise $2500 so I can direct my funds to hard to treat breast cancers. This goal continues to honour our family member Kim, who died due to triple negative breast cancer (one of the most aggressive and hard to treat breast cancers), and it also honours Mickey, my bonus mom, who survived breast cancer. Research and treatment saves lives!
