I was diagnosed with breast cancer in March of 2023 after my regular mammogram.  I received this news at the Ray Fawcett Breast Cancer Centre.  Within a month I had a mastectomy and 11 lymph nodes removed.  This was followed up with being put on tamoxifen immediately, for the next several years.  This drug improves my chances of reoccurrence by 30%, which makes the many side effects worth it.  I received 28 rounds of radiation July-August/23 in Kelowna where I was lucky enough to be able to stay with my wonderful in-laws.  Spring of this year I received my second mastectomy and expanders placed to begin the reconstruction progress.  I have also been referred to the Breast Cancer Survivorship Program here in town. Throughout this whole process I have had wonderful care and compassion, and all treatments and procedures in a timely manner.
