You never think it would happen to you. I was 30 years old when I first heard the words "you have breast cancer". Today, 12 YEARS LATER,  I am on the other side. I am a mom to an amazing 5 year old boy. I am A SURVIVOR!

But I didn't do it alone; my family and friends have been there supporting me throughout my diagnosis, surgery, chemo, radiation and hormone therapy. I am forever grateful to them, and excited to have them run beside me at this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure. 

 

I am lucky to have received the life-saving treatments I did - some of the specific treatments that specifically targeted my type of cancer have only become available a few years prior to my diagnosis. Breast cancer research is still so important, and can help so many more lives.
