Nanaimo: Angels Abreast - CIBC Run for the Cure

Nanaimo

Angels Abreast

1 in 9 Canadian women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Let’s do something to change that.

We are participating in this year’s CIBC Run for the Cure which supports the breast cancer cause at the Canadian Cancer Society. We’re running in honour of all of the incredible women in our lives, and we need your help!

Angles abreast is a dragon boat team that supports breast cancer survivors.

  • Physical Fitness: Dragon boating involves paddling, which is a full-body workout. It helps improve cardiovascular fitness, strength, and endurance. For breast cancer survivors, maintaining physical fitness is crucial for overall health and well-being. It reduces the risk of lymphedema.
  • Upper Body Strength: The paddling motion in dragon boating primarily engages the upper body muscles, including the arms, shoulders, and back. This can help improve muscle strength and tone, which is beneficial for rehabilitation after surgeries like mastectomy
  • Psychological Benefits: Engaging in team-based physical activity like dragon boating can provide emotional support and a sense of camaraderie. It offers opportunities to socialize, build friendships, and share experiences with others who have gone through similar challenges.
  • Sense of Community: Many dragon boating teams for breast cancer survivors are part of larger supportive communities. This sense of belonging can be particularly valuable during recovery and beyond, providing ongoing encouragement and motivation.

Please contribute what you can to my fundraising. Every dollar makes a difference. Your donation will fund innovative research to save the lives of more women, and provide support programs to those affected by this disease.

Did you know that just $100 could fund 2 hours of lifesaving research in a world class laboratory?  Your contribution could be the cause of the next lifesaving breakthrough!

Let’s be Changemakers, and together, we can create a future without breast cancer.

Thanks in advance for your support!
