Once again I am walking this day in honor of my sister who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2019, after a long and dignified fight of 17 years.  Thankfully, she was able to visit Prince George and walk part of the route with me a few years ago.  And I know that she will be with me on Run Day as she is every day.

I've realized that I have not explained the initials written in the sand on my sister's photo.  The initials, MT, were Linda's mantra for the last few years of her life and stood for 'More Time'.  They were quoted often and words that she lived by.

My sister had very specific wishes for what she wanted to be done with her ashes. She was a lover of the ocean and of walking the beaches. She wanted to have her ashes spread in her favorite places to do just that, Hawaii and the Sidney Spit on Vancouver Island.  We completed her request with the family traveling to Sidney Spit where we offered our final goodbyes and walked the beach she loved.

I continue to walk for my sisters, my six cousins, my aunt, good friends and several co-workers who have all fought their own battles with breast cancer. More importantly, I continue to participate for my beautiful daughters, daughter-in-law and granddaughters in the hopes that they will live a life never having been touched by breast cancer.
