But I was wrong.  I do get cancer.

I was offered the TCHP route with Perjeta (or poo-jeta as my cancer peeps online more appropriately call it).  I was poked and prodded and had about a hundred jabs.  I had two surgeries, radiation was quick to follow and adjuvant systemic therapy was next for almost a year.  Now I'm into the pill treatment for the next 5 years, so yes, thanks, I *do* look tired.

I want to say, the treatments I spoke about with the oncologist at the start in June 2022 were different from what I got.  And the treatments I had were different than what friends got a year later.  Because cancer research does work.  Because the more we raise funds, the more research can be done and the more we can find ways to, if not eradicate, at least minimize the hell I have been through these last two years. 

I want you to know, that not everything was free.  This is Canada, but if things are fairly new, one has to pay for them.  Thank you Big Pharma for taking all our savings.

The only thing worse than having lived through this would have been if I had died through it.  But I was willing - to try it all, even the new stuff like Kadcyla and Perjeta - words that were not in my vocabulary two years ago.  And I was able to take those last minute cancellation appointments and go anywhere - even if it spread me over 4 hospitals.  Thank you, all the medical staff at ARHCC, JPOC, Surrey and BC Cancer & Inspire Health.  You are all so amazing.
