Five years ago this week, I had surgery for breast cancer that was found following a routine mammogram. I am grateful for the care I received that has allowed me to be healthy and active, and for Abreast in a Boat where I found a wonderful community of women, who like me, had a diagnosis of breast cancer, and recognized the value of continuing exercise and community in maintaining one’s health. 

Its hard to believe, but 1in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. An estimated 27,700 women and 260 men will be diagnosed  with breast cancer every year in Canada.

To show my support for all Canadians impacted by breast cancer, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 6, 2024.
