In support of the estimated 27,700 women and 260 men diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada, Spartan’s HR team is coming together on Sunday, October 6, 2024 to participate in the CIBC Run for the Cure as Team “On Poynt”.

We all know someone close to us who has been touched by this disease, and this year it has hit Spartans close to home, impacting our VP HR, Susan Poynter. Susan was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2023. Thankfully, she is one of the lucky ones who was diagnosed early through a routine mammogram and successfully completed her treatments last August in time to be “race ready” in time for the 2023 Run for the Cure.

I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 6, 2024, because our team believes there is a cure. Every day researchers are finding better, more personalized ways to target cancer for the individual. A cure is certainly within reach.

If you would like to join the On Poynt team, we would love to have you! You can walk, run, skip, dance, or crawl your way through a route in Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver. Let us know if you would like to participate in a location outside of the three listed above, and we will look into options. As a team, we can motivate and inspire each other to raise funds for ground-breaking breast cancer research and support programs and services.
