My late Mama Tess had a mastectomy in her mid 60s, a lumpectomy on her other breast years later, and beat cancer to live a full life until almost 90 years old. I was diagnosed with the same disease and had surgery exactly 5 years ago on Nov 8th. A series of chemotherapy treatments followed and finished just shortly after the pandemic hit.

Going through a life-threatening illness was a test of faith, strength, resilience, and optimism; but the toughest part was seeing my loved ones suffer as they walked with me through the ordeal. It was painful to see them sinking into the feeling of helplessness as they prayed, cried and pleaded for my healing.

Now coming out of the journey, not only has hope been reignited and life renewed, we all look forward to healing, and ultimately defeating the illness.
