As many of you know I have been battling breast cancer for the past 7 months. I think I’m done the most difficult part. 6 rounds of chemotherapy and a mastectomy of my right breast and 9 lymph nodes removed. My pathology came back NED(no evidence of disease) so the chemo worked! I am cancer free!! I still have a long road ahead with reconstructive surgery and 8 more Herceptin(trastuzumab the drug that fights Her2positive breast cancer) treatments. Not to mention the mental and emotional challenge of dealing with all of this.

I am planning on walking this years CIBC run for the cure in Vancouver in October. It is sure to be 5 kilometres of reflection, gratitude, hope and tears.

I know many of my friends, family and acquaintances generously donated to the Canadian Cancer Society in April when I did my fundraising walk. But if you can manage a bit more for this worthy cause that would be super!

Research and developments in breast cancer treatment are ever changing. I might not have survived this type of cancer if it weren’t for the development of Herceptin only 26 years ago. Thank you all so much for your love, well wishes, and healing energy that got me through this difficult time.

It’s not over yet. But I’m beating this bitch!!
