Through social media, I noticed I was seeing an increase in stories of young women being diagnosed with breast cancer. My heart felt for them, fighting this disease at such a young age often with small children at home. This made me inquire with my doctor about my own risk of breast cancer and find out if more young women really are being diagnosed.

I didn’t get the response I was hoping for. It is true.

Each year more and more young women are being diagnosed with breast cancer. Diagnoses among women under 40 are rising and it is a concerning trend.

To show my support for the thousands of Canadians diagnosed with breast cancer every year, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure.
