Welcome to the Crushing Cancer team page! The Run for the Cure is taking place in Vancouver on October 7th. We hope you can support and join us!

As many of you know, in November 2023, my eldest sister was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. Finding out about the diagnosis rocked us all - it felt incomprehensible to see my sister face the hardest challenge of her life. And yet, through this all, she has remained positive and has focused on spreading awareness and fundraising for breast cancer research. Through gruelling treatment, she never complains - even on the dark winter days where she felt like crap or the days, the endless medical appointments and the days when her nurses couldn’t quite get her IVs in during chemo.

She has always been my strong, fierce and unstoppable sister and beating Cancer will be no different.

With the many privileges and resources we are lucky to have, we have been supported by BC Cancer. As a family, we recognize this and know that many individuals who are impacted by this disease don’t have the same type of support. They rely on the Canadian Cancer Society to help close the gaps.

Given the genetic nature of her cancer, we’ve learned a lot as a family. We’ve learned the importance of breast cancer research for early detection, prevention of recurrence, and treatment options to improve survival rates. We need better access to MRI's and mammograms for early detection. A huge amount of research must be funded on groundbreaking tests and treatments before they can become available. 

Join the team to participate and fundraising for this year's Run for the Cure to support services for those in need and to fund research that improves survival rates. Every person who is diagnosed deserves the best fighting chance to beat and crush cancer.
