My mom was someone who devoted her life to going above and beyond to raising my sister and I. She was someone I always counted on to solve any problems I came to her with. It truly felt like such a hopeless moment when our family found out about my mom's diagnosis last April. During that time I hoped so badly that there was more that I could have done to solve her probem like she always did for me.

This October I will be turning 30, I never would have thought last year would be my last birthday that I got to celebrate with my mom. While cancer took her away from us too soon I will never forget all the support she received through her hard fought battle. In memory of my mom I wanted to make this birthday a meaningful one by fundraising money for more cancer research and support the programs and services that helped my mom through her journey.

An estimated 27,700 women and 260 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada.

To show my support for all Canadians impacted by breast cancer, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 1, 2023.
