Having had cancer myself and being BRCA2 positive, I can truly say that breast cancer sucks! Knowing that it runs in my family and having tested for the BRCA gene, I was luckily able to be part of a screening program which helped me get diagnosed earlier and likely saved my life as well as other members of my family! My sister, grandmother, cousins and many other important and loved people in my life have all been affected by breast cancer. 

Please remember to do regular self- breast exams and follow up with a doctor if you notic anything new or different! If you have known breast cancer in your family, I would enccourage you to get genetic testing done as there is a great screening program in BC for those living with these genes.

An estimated 27,700 women and 260 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada.
