My first ever mammogram was supposed to be just precautionary due to family history. That precaution likely saved my life, it found a 2 cm mass which ended up being an invasive ductal carcinoma. I am remarkably lucky it was found early, is relatively easily treatable, and was removed without a mastectomy.
