To show my support for the thousands of Canadians diagnosed with breast cancer every year, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure. 

On a more personal note, my mom has been diagnosed with cancer twice in her life. She is the strongest woman I know. She was first diagnosed with cervical cancer when I was a young girl. At the time I had no idea what cancer was. My mom shielded me from the pain she experienced and throughout her treatment. She fought hard, completed treatment and was cancer free. Two years ago my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. As an adult now, I watched my mom go through treatment, lose her hair and witnessed the effects of chemotherapy. She has completed chemo but is still on medication and waiting to be cleared. I am so proud of her for being strong and fighting this fight. Like I said, she is the strongest woman I know.
