To show my support for all Canadians impacted by breast cancer, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

I started doing the run to show support for my late auntie. Breast cancer has affected many people in my family. It is sadly a reality for too many women and men (yes men also). An estimated 27,700 women and 260 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada. I want to help make a future where breast cancer is a thing of the past. Although the amount of advancement in treatment and detection has advanced so much over the years, there is still so much more to learn.

I have been doing the Run for the Cure for 16 year now. It has been many different experiences, from running in snow/rain/beautiful weather, to running along side thousands of people to alone during Covid. There is one thing that stays consistent, the need to raise awareness and funding for breast cancer support and research. The Run for the Cure is the single largest fundraising day for Canadian Breast Cancer and it stay in this region, helping people closest to us. P.S. Did you know? Fundraising $300 can fund help provide healthy home-cooked meals for guests at a Canadian Cancer Society lodge during their stay. Lodge guests receive wholesome foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, and meals customized to their dietary needs – including those arising from cancer treatment, like liquid and soft food diets.
