Dear Friends,

It is now 12 years since I finished chemotherapy. It is 11 years since I started running with the Running Room, Survivor Clinic. What started out as an activity to raise money for Breast cancer research has now turned into a weekly spring/summer/fall activity. I am strong and very thankful to be healthy and running every week, not as often as last year but I am still getting out there.  Shin splints slowed me down for a while. This is my second year with Chemosavvy, an all female team of breast cancer survivors, where am training two times a week for Dragonboat racing on the Red River. I am inspired by these women. 

As many of you know, from previous years of donating that in recent years I have chosen to make your donation reach farther than Canadian Cancer Society. Last year I made a donation to the Tovey Centre for Music in Vancouver in memory of Bramwell Tovey and his fight with cancer on behalf of all our donors - 10% of what we raise as a team. 

This year my focus is all back on breast cancer as a dear friend is now battling triple negative breast cancer. This is the one you hope you do not have - and she is fighting it in fluevogs and flair. Her focus wasn't on herself but on her husband who is also battling cancer.  Now they both find themselves getting chemotherapy.  We need a cure.  The treatments are improving and that is such a blessing - even with triple negative breast cancer survival is getting better because of treatment break throughs. So - whatever our team raises I will personally make a donation to 10% of that back to the Cancer society for research.  We need a CURE.

You are likely someone who sees my letter every year and I am so grateful for your continued support. If you are new to our fundraising hopes I hope you will consider making a donation to my run, or one of my teammates, or the team as a whole. 

 I am ever so grateful for good health and to be able to particpate in the Run for the Cure every year.
