In December of 2021, my mom was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) accounts for only about 10-15% of all breast cancers. TNBC differs from other types of invasive breast cancer in that it tends to grow and spread faster, has fewer treatment options, and tends to have a worse prognosis.

She received intense chemotherapy, a radical mastectomy and 25 radiation treatments before discovering advanced and incurable metastasis to both of her lungs in 2023. She continued to exude her unwavering strength and positivity until loosing her battle last October, just a few short weeks after last year’s event.  

To show support for all Canadians impacted by breast cancer, I am once again participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 6, 2024.
