In January of 2023, I was diagnosed with Stage 1A DCIS. I had a lumpectomy in February of 2023 and then travelled away from my family for 6 weeks to undergo 20 radiation treatments. I also am taking hormone therapy and will continue to take this for 5 years. 

Since going through my own journey, I have had several family members, friends and colleagues reach out, after getting their own diagnosis. I’ve lost a friend to this terrible disease and I watch as others continue to fight their battle.

This year, I will run for me, my daughter, my family and my friends. I run for those we have lost, those who continue to fight and for those that have yet to be diagnosed.

An estimated 27,700 women and 260 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada.

To show my support for all Canadians impacted by breast cancer, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 1, 2023.
