March 2001 I was diagnosed with advanced and aggressive breast cancer. It was a frightening and emotional time. I underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation which thankfully worked and I wake up feeling lucky every single day.

I was extremely fortunate to have the wonderful support of my fabulous family and fantastic friends. In September 2001 we registered individually to do the CIBC Run for the Cure but the enthusiasm of the other teams there that day encouraged us to form our own team and in 2002 Circle of Friends started on an adventure.

Staying strong for the past 20 years, our CIBC Run for the Cure team Circle of Friends team has seen mothers, sisters, cousins, daughters, friends and co-workers diagnosed with breast cancer, which keeps us constantly motivated to continue the fight. My sister Pat who was an active member of our team lost her battle with breast cancer in 2014, she would be very proud to know that in 2020 along with the covid19 challenge we will continue the cause and hopefully our children will not have to face this dreaded disease. In 2015 my sister Barbara, one of our top fundraisers and most determined was diagnosed with breast cancer.  I am extremely proud of our team whose determination and drive has allowed us to achieve our yearly goal of raising the most money for a women's team since 2005. Our team has raised over $260,000.00 since 2002, this would not be possible without the continued support of family, friends and our communities who support us each and every year.

2022 I have decided to just do the Run for the Cure individually hopefully next year I can do the team again.  I am looking forward to the continued generosity of family and friends.  Thank you so much.

In 2023 decided to do the Run again, I really do believe every dollar we fundraise together made a difference and we will find a cure.

This is now 2024 and I am still doing the Run individually.  Thank you so much for all your generosity and support over the years. I really hope maybe next year to do a team again.
