My name is Emily Schneider, I am a student at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I am currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in English Literature. Cancer has impacted a number of my family members, including my Aunt, Papa, and Opa. At the end of August, my Opa passed away shortly after facing a colon cancer diagnosis in June. Now, I am looking forward to seeing a day where nobody is facing the difficulties of the cancer process. To show my support for my dear family members impacted by cancer and the thousands of Canadians diagnosed with breast cancer every year, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure. 

On October 6th, I am running for one of my greatest inspirations, my Aunt Marlo. My aunt is a courageous, beautiful, accomplished woman, who is an incredible blessing in my life. In 1995, my Aunt Marlo was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. With her incredible courage and strength, she beat it. The world is a better place with her in it, along with so many other women who have faced various cases of breast and gynecological cancers.

My goal is to raise $200 for the Canadian Cancer Society. With your help, I can reach my fundraising goal and make a life-changing difference for so many people. Every dollar I raise will fund groundbreaking breast cancer research and support programs and services for those impacted by this disease.
